Ainun Nishat, PhD, Country Representative, nishatiucnbd.org

Dr. Ainun Nishat, has been working as a catalyst, advocate, educator and facilitator, championing the wise use of natural resources and sustainable development in Bangladesh for decades, while his arena of work and interests include water resource development and management, environment management, biodiversity conservation, coastal zone and wetland conservation and management, disaster management, adaptation to climate change and climate variability and related policy advocacy.

Before joining IUCN, Dr. Nishat was a Professor of Water Resources Engineering of Bangladesh University of Engineering and Technology (BUET). He has been a member of the Bangladesh National Water Council, Indo-Bangladesh Joint River Commission, Bangladesh National Agricultural Commission and the National Council on Science and Technology. Dr. Nishat had played an important role in the Ganges Water Treaty negotiations, water sector policy formulation, agriculture sector policy revision and strategy formulation.

Mr. Amin completed M. Sc in Environmental Technology from Imperial College of Science, Technology and Medicine, UK in 2002. At present, he is responsible for overall growth of IUCN’s program profile and supports the Country Representative in planning and designing IUCN’s strategic direction in Bangladesh. Raquib’s other passions are nature-tourism and photography.

Joined in IUCN B in December 2006. MSc in Botany, Bangladesh, MS in Development Studies from UK. 23 years of service experienc in the field of development. At present he is responsible for implementation of Sustainable Management of Tangua Haor Project of IUCN B funded by SDC. Previous employment - Consultant Oxfam

Masters in Commerce, Chartered Accountants (Intermediate), Professional Tax Lawyer, Membership - Dhaka Taxes Bar Association, Bangladesh,8 years professional experience in the field of Finance and Accounts with International/Multinational Organisations. At present he is responsible for administration of Finance,Administration and HR Units of IUCN B. Previous Employment - Manager, Treasury of Aventis Limited (Multiational Pharmaceuticals Company)

Haseeb Md. Irfanullah, PhD, Senior Programme Officer, haseebiucnbd.org

Dr Haseeb, a Botanist by training, did his PhD at the University of Liverpool (UK) on aquatic ecology. He is currently working under the NCSA project of IUCN Bangladesh. Dr. Haseeb is also the Head-in-charge of Species Conservation & Protected Areas Unit of IUCN Bangladesh. His fields of interest comprise natural resource management, aquatic ecology, education and taxonomy.

Mr. Haque completed his MS in Environmental Science, Policy and Management (MESPOM) from the MESPOM consortium institutes of the European Union: University of Manchester, UK; Central European University, Hungary; Lund University, Sweden; and Aegean University, Greece. Currently, Mr. Haque is responsible for Climate Change Adaptation Target setting project as a Project Manager. His expertise gained through 12 years of professional work covers Natural Resource Management, M&E and Environmental Impact Assessment.

Mohammad Abul Kalam Azad, Project Manager, ORGANS Project, akazadiucnbd.org

Mr. Azad received his MSc in Crop Science from the Bangladesh Agricultural University in 2002. He is currently managing a floating gardening project of IUCN Bangladesh jointly implemented with CARE Bangladesh under SHOUHARDO Program in the haor region. He loves traveling to new places and reading story books in his leisure time.

Mr. Roy, ACMA, professional degree holder of Cost and Management Accountant from The Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh besides he received his B.Com in Accounting and M.S.S. in Economics from the National University. He is interested in the areas of cost and management audit, review and compilation of financial statements as well as reporting of corporate finance, taxation, general business accounting and business planning for sustainable operations in organization. His professional skills have been instrumental in serving organizations retain their wealth through effective financial and business planning.

Completing his graduation in Zoology and MS in Wildlife Biology from the University of Dhaka, Mr. Shayer is currently working in projects on biodiversity - livelihood linkage and species conservation (Asian Elephant). His field of interest includes biodiversity assessment, conservation breeding and re-introduction and ecosystem management including restoration, services and tools.

With a Masters degree in Islamic History, Mr. Asaduzzaman completed Postgraduate Diploma in Library and Information Science from the National Library and Information Association, Bangladesh. He has also done a Three-Month Certificate Course in Environmental Education in the Centre for Environment Education (CEE), India. He has interest in graphic-designing.

Mr. Azad has graduated from the University of Chittagong. He has extensive experience to work with both renowned national NGO and multi-national organizations. He completed a training course on Human Resource Management organized by Daffodil University. At present, he is pursuing Post Graduate Diploma in Personnel Management from Bangladesh Institute of Management (BIM). He regularly contributes to an eminent news daily of the country as a freelance writer.

A graduate in Environmental Studies (NSU), Ms. Firoz has completed her Masters in Development Studies. She is currently working under the NCSA Project and also the focal point of IUCN’s networks. She is the Young Professionals’ representative for IUCN Asia Region. Remeen’s interests include music, traveling, culture and books.

Completed his business administration degree from the University of Asia Pacific, Dhaka and attended two semesters at the University of Windsor, Ontario, Canada as a visiting student. He is a public relations professional with exposure to cross-cultural communications and experience across agency, corporate, government and international organisations.
