Multi-Stakeholder Consultation on the World Environment Day 2007

A half-day long multi-stakeholder consultation titled ‘Combating Climate Change: Institutional and Individual Capacity Development’ was held at Osmani Auditorium on 6th June 2007 to observe the World Environment Day 2007.

Dhaka, Bangladesh, 08 June, 2007 (IUCN) – A half-day long multi-stakeholder consultation titled ‘Combating Climate Change: Institutional and Individual Capacity Development’ was held at Osmani Auditorium on 6th June 2007 to observe the World Environment Day 2007. Institution and Policy Support Unit (IPSU) of the Ministry of Environment and Forest, Department of Environment, Ministry of Environment and Forest and The World Conservation Union (IUCN) Bangladesh Country Office jointly organized the consultation meeting under the NCSA Project. A wide range of participants such as representatives from various ministries, departments, UNDP Bangladesh and nation’s leading NGOs, field level officials as well as students of different institutions were present at the meeting. Mr. Mahfuz Ullah, Secretary General, Center for Sustainable Development (CFSD) and Chair of the IUCN National Committee in Bangladesh chaired the session. Several recommendations were flagged through the open discussion session to generate mass awareness amongst the citizens of Bangladesh and enhance individual capacity in order to combat the impacts of climate change.
