Sharupkathi , Pirojpur, 20 September 2006 (IUCN) –A cross-visit was organized by IUCN Bangladesh in association with SHOUHARDO Haor Regional Office on 17-19 September to Sharupkathi (now known as Nesarabad), Pirojpur District and Gopalganj District participated by 14 community people from the Baira project site(Baniachang, Habiganj), two CARE frontline staff from the Haor Region and three IUCN staff members, totaling 19 people. The aim of this visit was to give the Baira Project beneficiaries an opportunity to learn baira cultivation practically, share their views and experience with others baira practitioners, and also to feel acknowledged regarding their efforts made so far in baira cultivation under the Project. Moreover, the CARE staff from the Haor Region would also learn about the baira cultivation through this visit and would try to promote this agricultural technique at their respective project sites.
